The "Something" Series

Before You Lose Something Important: A Scene.

NYC Winter Events Guide: January 2020 | Julep by Triplemint.

The keys are heard opening an apartment door. Grace walks into the apartment and kicks off her boots to the side. Ari follows her inside, placing her boots nicely to the side. Grace goes to the kitchen and gets a bottle of water out of the fridge. Ari stands there, watching Grace walk around her apartment like nothing happened.

Ari: Grace?

Grace doesn’t answer, she continues to do things around the apartment. It pisses Ari off.

Ari: Grace!

Grace: What?

Ari: You’re just gonna act like you weren’t puking your brains out a couple of hours ago?

Grace: No, but it’s over and done with; thank you for driving me home.

Grace walks into her bedroom, in which Ari follows her into. Once Ari enters, she slams the door behind her, making Grace look back, annoyed.

Ari: Grace, we gotta talk.

Grace: Yeah, you’ve been saying that forever now…

Ari: Because you’ve been avoiding it forever now.

Grace turns around to face Ari.

Grace: Can’t I just relax in my own home for fuck’s sake?

Ari: Dumb bitches like you don’t get to relax after the fuckery they pulled last night.

Grace: Excuse me?

Ari: Did I stutter?

Grace rolls her eyes and puts on a hoodie and sweatpants. Ari just stands there.

Ari: Do you even remember where the fuck you were last night?

Grace: Yeah. I was at the bar, is it a crime to go to the bar?

Ari: Do you remember where the fuck you went after the bar?

Grace: Your place.

Ari: Wrong. Do you see what I’m saying, Grace? You don’t even know where the fuck you were because you were so fucking drunk.

Grace: So what? I’m home now.

Ari: That’s not the fucking point, Grace! You’re not in college anymore; it’s not cute to be waking up in someone else’s house without you remembering. You’re a grown ass adult!

Grace: Then stop talking to me like I’m your fucking kid, Ari.

Ari: Then stop acting like one! Girl, you’re going to be 30 years old this year, and yet you are acting like the complete opposite! This drinking to the point of blacking out needs to fucking end.

Grace: I don’t remember asking for your opinion or this lecture.

Before Grace can walk out the bedroom door, Ari blocks the door way. Grace is beyond annoyed, and Ari doesn’t care if she is.

Ari: The clothes you were in earlier were not mine, or Dean’s, by the way.

Grace: So?

Ari: They were Jamie’s.

Grace’s eyes focus on Ari after the newfound information. She doesn’t know how to react.

Ari: That’s where you were last night.

Ari moves out of the way and Grace follows her out of the room.

Grace: WAIT, WHAT? What the fuck was I even doing there anyway? I don’t remember going out with him-

Ari: Because you didn’t. His friends spotted you taking shots at the bar and called him to help you out, since you were incapable of helping yourself out.

Grace doesn’t say anything, but Ari continues to speak.

Ari: You gotta stop all of this dumb bitch shit, Grace.

Grace: Look, I was upset and I need to just relax for the night.

Ari: That’s not a valid excuse to get shitfaced! You deal with it like a normal, functioning adult!

Grace: Whatever, Ari. I’m fine.

Ari: No, you’re not!

Ari is louder than she was. Grace uis taken back by Ari’s loud voice.

Ari: Grace, you gotta stop feeling sorry for yourself. You can’t just go to the bar and drink your life away because it’s not going the way you want it to go.

Grace: I’m allowed to do whatever the fuck I want to do!

Ari: At what cost, Grace? Huh? If you keep this up, you’re going to end up losing something important. You’re going to end up losing Willow. She needs you in her life and you gotta start acting like her mom!

Grace: Why? Huh?! Max is just going to play house with his new wife and she’ll be Willow’s new mom and I’ll just be the mistake in both of their lives!

Ari begins to gather her things to leave the apartment.

Ari: I’m not going to feel sorry for you. In fact, I feel sorry for Jamie for having to deal with you last night and the shit you put him through.

Grace: *angry* Are you seriously siding with my ex right now? You’re suppose to be my best fucking friend!

Ari explodes at Grace, revealing everything that has happened within the last 24 hours.

Ari: Do you know why I came to get you instead of Jamie this morning? Because he left; he couldn’t stand being with you and helping a person that really told him in a drunk state of mind that you killed his baby!

Grace is at a loss for words. Hints of last night begin to flashback to her. She remembers being with Jamie, and she remember crying herself to sleep.

Grace: Get out.

Ari doesn’t say anything back, she just grabs her things and heads for the front door. Grace stands in place, not really knowing what to do next.

The Teenage Tell-Tale.

The Teenage Girl Code: A Scene.

Photo 4 of 10 in NYC Public Schools - Dwell

It’s one of the rehearsal days for the seniors of Beverly Junior High. The boys and girls are separate from one another, yet find a way to chat with each other while waiting for the teachers to begin with rehearsal.

On the boy’s side, Milo sits quietly. He doesn’t really engage with anyone and looks like he rather be anywhere else but here at the moment. On the girl’s side, Sophie sits by herself while Mollie sits a couple of seats from her. She keeps looking in Sophie’s direction with a disgusted look on her face. Ronnie, who is sitting next to Mollie notices.

Ronnie: Mollie.

Mollie: *turns her head quickly* Huh?

Ronnie: Why are you giving Sophie the stank eye for?

Mollie: Nothing…

Ronnie: *sighs* Is this about Milo again?

Mollie: I just don’t get why he would choose a girl over his best friend!

Ronnie: He’s a boy, Mol. All boys are going to put girls before their friends.

Mollie turns her head back in Sophie’s direction and continues to stare at her.

Mollie: But she was friends with Laurie, Ron. She was a part of the squad that made my life a living hell for 3 years–

Ronnie: Yeah, but if she’s friends with Milo, then she might just be a nice person. You know Milo wouldn’t hurt you on purpose.

The teachers quiet the auditorium and begin to instruct directions in how to proceed with the practice.

Teacher: First, we will have the girls line up towards the east wing of the auditorium…

The girls get up from their seats and begin to walk towards the back of the auditorium. Sophie walks on her own until she is nudged by someone. She looks toward her side and sees that it’s Mollie, who is now passing her as she walks up. Sophie grows annoyed.

In the hallway, the girls line up in a single file line. Sophie now looks at Mollie, who is talking with Ronnie further down the line. She squeezes her eyes shut until she opens them and moves out of her place in line, walking towards Mollie. Sophie stops in front of Mollie, to which the girls stop their conversation and look at Mollie.

Sophie: Can we talk, Mollie?

Mollie looks at Ronnie, who nods her head. She walks away from the line, back to where Sophie was standing.

Mollie: What do you want to talk about?

Sophie: *sighs* I just wanted to let you know that it was never okay what Laurie did to you. I never agreed with what she did and I was never a part of anything she did…

Mollie: Okay…?

Sophie nervously fidgets with her hands until she forces her hands to her side to continue with the conversation.

Sophie: I also know you and Milo care about each other as friends and… I don’t want you to be mad at him because of him being friends with me.

Mollie: *laughs* You think you’re the reason? You know the world doesn’t revolve around you.

Sophie: Milo is my friend, Mollie, and… and I know he’s upset that you guys are fighting–

Mollie: *defensive* Look, I don’t need you in my business with my best friend. You have no right just coming in here and telling me what I should and shouldn’t do.

Sophie: No, I’m not saying that. I’m saying… we both care about Milo a lot, and… I’m coming to you as a person that understands how much he means to you. I just want us to be okay. We don’t have to be friends if you don’t want, but for the sake of Milo, let’s just be cool?

Mollie doesn’t say anything, she just stands there looking at Sophie.

Sophie: I don’t have anything against you, Mollie. I just… wanna let go of the foolishness. I hope that one day, you will see where I’m coming from.

Mollie walks away from Sophie once the teachers begin to straighten out the girls once more. She walks back to her spot, pondering on the conversation she just had. She doesn’t say anything.

The girls line up and walk down one side of the auditorium and the boys walk on the other side. Once the boys and girls meet up in the middle, they are partnered up as they walk down the middle aisle together. Sophie looks up to see herself partnered with Milo, which she smiles at. Milo smiles at her back, and Mollie, who is further down the line, watches the two interact. Once she reaches the middle of the aisle, she sees herself paired up with Simon. She rolls her eyes and looks forward. Simon catches on.

Simon: So many girls in our grade and I have to be paired with you?

Mollie: You’re not great either, idiot.

Simon shakes his head and stands next to Mollie. He looks at her and where she’s staring at.

Simon: Jealous that your best friend got stolen by another girl?

Mollie looks at Simon, highly annoyed.

Mollie: Jealous that your crush is spending all her time with another guy?

Simon’s smile fades.

Simon: I’m with Laurie.

Mollie: Puh-leeease. You’ve made it so obvious that you like Sophie, so I don’t know who you’re fooling.

Simon: *defensive* You don’t know shit, Castro.

Mollie: Clearly you don’t either, Hempstead. Sophie seems to be interested in another guy, so you’re just gonna have to deal with it.

Simon looks at Milo and Sophie further down the line, so are laughing and talking to one another. Simon gets angry and doesn’t say anything else.

Further ahead of the line, Milo and Sophie have a conversation while they wait for further directions.

Milo: You have your big speech ready, Valedictorian?

Sophie: *laughs* No, not yet. I have no idea what I even want to say.

Milo: I mean, write what you wanna say. It doesn’t have to be this big presidential, “I Have a Dream” speech.

Sophie: … Do you know Martin Luther King Jr. was not a president, right?

Milo: His speech was the only one I could think of.

Sophie laughs and pinches Milo’s cheek. He instantly turns red.

Sophie: Abraham Lincoln, our 16th President, started the Gettysburg Address with “Four score and seven years ago…”

Milo: What exactly is “four score”?

Sophie: *sighs* At least you passed social studies, but make sure to take better notes in high school.

Sophie scruffs up Milo’s hair; he just smiles and blushes in place. Behind Milo and Sophie is Laurie, who watches on from a couple of inches away from them. When the line begins to move, Milo and Sophie don’t notice right away, which Laurie finds her opportunity to finally say something.

Laurie: Romeo! Juliet! Pay attention and stop flirting with each other!

The rest of the class laughs, in which Sophie immediately turns red and embarrassed. Milo looks back at Laurie, upset.

Milo: You’re just mad because your so-called “boyfriend” doesn’t even talk to you.

Milo turns around as the rest of the class “ooo’s” at the diss. The teachers quiet down the class and proceeds with the rehearsal. Mollie, who is still in line, smiles at the diss that Milo told Laurie.

Black Sheep in Society.

Black Sheep’s Day Off: A Scene.

The richest neighborhoods in New York City - Curbed NY

Rosie walks out of a building in the city in high heels, sunglasses, a short skirt with a small jacket on. She looks around the street and instantly sees a limo pull up towards the building. Before walking towards the limo, she quickly looks at her surroundings. She walks into the limo and drives off.

Back in Brooklyn, Micah lays on his back on the couch, scrolling through his phone. His younger twin sisters sit in the kitchen area.

Reagan: He’s a total hottie though, Dyl! Like he’s a musician and every girl wants a piece of him!

Dylan: He’s not into me, though…

Reagan: He’s into you more than any girl I’ve seen him into! Let him stroke you like an instrument!

Micah gets up and faces the girls.

Micah: Over my dead body!

Reagan: *sucks her teeth* Chill Mic, it’s just a saying…

Micah: Yeah, before that saying becomes a reality and the only thing that tool is stroking is himself on a weekend night!

Reagan and Dylan say “eww” at the same time.

Dylan: You didn’t have to say all of that in front of us…

Micah: Well you didn’t have to say all that you did in front of me either.

The girls and Micah’s mother, Jennifer, walks into the kitchen area with a basket of laundry. She places it on top of the island.

Jennifer: I remember telling you two to start off the laundry an hour ago.

Dylan: We were getting ready to do it!

Jennifer: Really? Then why did I find the basket in your room?

The girls don’t answer; they are clearly busted.

Jennifer: Laundry. Now.

The girls get up from their chairs and grab the laundry to load it in the washer. Jennifer leaves the kitchen area and walks towards Micah in the living room.

Jennifer: Your brother and his family are coming over for dinner, Mic.

Micah: And?

Jennifer steps back and shows Micah the condition of the living room.

Jennifer: This place is a mess!

Micah: It’s only Milo, Ma! He’s lived here before, he knows how this place can be!

Jennifer: *stern* Micah.

Micah rolls off of the couch and stands up. He’s clearly not happy about having to clean up. He stumbles his way towards the broom and dustpan, about to clean up. Jennifer walks away and gets everything else straightened out. Micah’s phone gets to ring in his pocket, in which he takes it out and sees that it’s Kalia.

Micah: *answers the phone* Hey Kal.

Kalia: Hey babe! I was wondering if you wanted to go out today? My auditions got postponed to next Saturday so I have the weekend to myself!

Micah: *worried* That’s great…

He looks towards where his family is.

Kalia: You don’t sound too convincing…

Micah: It’s not that, it’s just… *sighs* My brother and his family are coming over for dinner, so I’m not going to be able to hang out with you.

Kalia: *down* Oh, I see… I really wanted to spend the day with you too…

Micah looks over towards the kitchen where his mother is beginning to prepare to cook dinner.

Micah: Why don’t you come over for dinner with my family?

Kalia: A-are you sure? I don’t want to intrude or anything.

Micah: I’m sure! Come by my place by 7?

Kalia: Yeah, sure.

Micah smiles through the phone.

Micah: See you then, Kal.

Micah hangs up the phone and turns around to see his mother looking at him from the kitchen. Jennifer sighs, continuing to do what she was doing.

Jennifer: Am I setting another plate on the table?

Micah: Yeah, I invited Kalia over for dinner since she was free.

Jennifer: Well, let’s just hope she actually makes it here this time around.

Micah doesn’t say anything.

A couple of hours later, The family is sitting around the large dining room table. On one end, it’s Jennifer and Milo Sr. with Reagan and Dylan, and then there’s Milo Jr, his wife Sophie, and two young children, Summer and Emerson. Micah sits towards the end of the table, next to an empty space.

Sophie: Dinner was delicious, Jennifer.

Jennifer: Thank you, sweetie! I know you’ve been asking for this dish for quite some time.

Sophie: I will definitely have a dish prepared the next time we do this…

Milo Jr: That’s if you don’t throw the ingredients at me again…

Sophie gives her husband a stern look.

Sophie: Carrying another one of your children gives me plenty of reason to do such thing, especially when you tell me how to cook.

Milo Jr playfully smiles at his wife, and kisses her on the forehead. His children say “ew” at the affection. Milo Sr and Jennifer smile at the sight, until Jennifer turns her head towards Micah, who is paying no attention to anything else besides his phone. She’s sad for Micah.

Jennifer: Any word yet, Micah?

Micah lifts his head to face the rest of the table, who is now looking at him. He doesn’t say anything.

Milo Jr: Micah had company coming too?

Reagan: His girlfriend.

Milo Jr: Girlfriend?

Micah rolls his eyes and ignores the conversation to the best of his ability. It’s easier said than done.

Milo Jr: Is it still with that model?

Micah: *annoyed* She’s not a model, she’s an actress and yes, she’s still my girlfriend.

Milo Jr: *nods* Okay, I hope to meet her one day.

Sophie: *stern* Babe.

Milo Jr: What? I’m just expressing my excitement that my little brother has a girlfriend and that I would like to meet her… whenever we get the chance to.

Micah gets up from his seat and grabs his plate from the table.

Jennifer: Micah–

Micah takes the empty plate from the table and walks into the kitchen. He slams the plates into the sink and walks out of the kitchen, towards his bedroom. The family watches on.

Micah walks into his room and takes out his phone from his pocket. He reads one of his unread messages from Kalia.

Kalia: So sorry for the change of plans. Something came up regarding the auditions. Love you ❤

Micah locks his phone and tosses it on the bed. He falls back onto the bed and looks up at the ceiling. He holds his face with his hands, frustrated and mad.

The "Something" Series

Something About Last Night: A Scene.

Big's Furniture | Living Room Furniture Las Vegas | Low Price Sofa Sets

Grace opens her eyes when she feels someone shaking her awake. She looks up and finally sees Ari standing there.

Grace: *groggy* Ari?

Ari: Hey girl, we gotta get you home.

Grace slowly gets up and immediately holds her head.

Grace: For fuck’s sake, why is my head pounding?

Ari: Because you drank yourself to the sickest hangover…

Grace finally is sitting up, and Ari anxiously tries to get Grace off the couch.

Ari: Come on now, let’s go.

Grace: Can I just stay–

Grace stops mid-sentence; Ari knows exactly what’s going to happen. She has the trash can on hand and hands it over to Grace. Grace pukes in it.

Grace: Fucking hell.

Ari: We gotta get you home, Grace…

Grace: Can I just stay here at your own place?

Grace hiccups, which worries Ari.

Ari: Come on, girl.

Ari helps Grace gather her things and gets out of the apartment.

The revolving doors swing as Jamie walks through them. He holds a briefcase in one hand, and a cup of coffee in the other. Jamie’s hair is fluffy and unkempt, his eyes are red due to lack of sleep. He doesn’t greet anyone on his way to his office; he just walks straight to it.

Along the way, Shawn and Kevin see Jamie, in which they follow him straight to his office.

Jamie closes his door behind him, in which there is a light knock.

Jamie: Aigoo, I just walked in here.

Jamie swings the door open to see Shawn and Kevin standing there. He exhales and turns around into his office; the two guys walk inside.

Shawn: Hyung, what are you doing here?

Jamie: I work here, just like you two.

Kevin: Yeah, but what happened with–

Jamie slams his briefcase shut after taking out the files in it. Kevin doesn’t continue with the sentence.

Shawn: Where’s Grace?

Jamie shuts his eyes and sighs in annoyance.

Jamie: Her friend is taking care of her.

Kevin: Friend?

Jamie: Her best friend. She’s with her now.

Kevin: So, you’re really not going to go after her?

Jamie: *loud* Is that why you called me to pick her up? Was this some sort of set up to get us together again?

Kevin: *defensive* You still came and took her!

Jamie: What the fuck was I suppose to do? Leave her there knowing she was drunk out of her fucking mind?

Kevin: You got to drop this whole act of you not caring about her when clearly you still love her!

Jamie: *yells* 야!

Shawn stands in between them to diffuse the argument.

Shawn: That’s enough! *to Jamie* Is she okay at least?

Jamie: Why don’t you ask her?! She’ll probably be at the bar again tonight!

Shawn: You don’t mean that.

Jamie: No! Why should I have to be the one to take care of her when she’s hitting rock bottom? She’s not my girlfriend anymore, and we aren’t friends either! I could’ve kicked her out, but instead I had her friend pick her up to take her home! So please, stop trying to make something impossible happen!

Jamie takes his files and leaves his office. Shawn and Kevin don’t know how to respond with Jamie’s response.

The shower is heard running in the bathroom, and Ari is seen sitting in the kitchen, scrolling through her phone. Her boyfriend, Dean, walks in the kitchen and sits next to Ari at the table.

Dean: How is she?

Ari: Clueless. She has no idea what happened last night.

Dean: Why was she with her ex? Are they back together?

Ari: No; a couple of his friends were at the same bar as her last night. He took her to his place to sober up and…

Ari looks distraught.

Ari: I don’t know if she remembers telling Jamie what happened but–

Dean: You mean the whole–

Ari: Yeah. The abortion thing.

Dean looks towards the bathroom door and then back at Ari.

Dean: That had to have been rough.

Ari: I have to tell her.

Dean: You sure you want to get yourself involved in that?

Ari: I already did when I agreed to pick her up from his apartment.

The water is heard going off and a few minutes later, the bathroom door opens. Grace walks out in an oversized hoodie and some leggings. She looks sad.

Ari: Hey, girl; are you alright?

Grace doesn’t answer, she just tries to put together some sentences.

Grace: Those clothes I had on were not mine.

Ari: They weren’t.

Grace: They smelled like-

Ari: Grace, we gotta talk.

Grace stands there, while Ari and Dean sit at the kitchen table.

The Teenage Tell-Tale.

The Teenage Man Pants: A Scene.

It’s a warm night at the end of May at the Castro residence. Milo sits outside in a lounge chair with Mollie; they have the bonfire turned on and they are roasting marshmallows while chatting. Mollie’s mom, Lydia, walks out towards the two teens with drinks and snacks.

Lydia: Here you guys go; make sure you take your garbage inside the house, okay?

The teens agree with Lydia’s rules.

Milo: How are my dad and Jennifer doing?

Lydia: No word of the twins just yet, but they’re doing alright.

Lydia walks into the house; Mollie continues to make s’mores.

Mollie: Two more siblings, huh?

Milo: Yep, like I didn’t want Micah, let alone two more.

Mollie laughs and roasts another marshmallow.

Mollie: Thank god I don’t have younger siblings.

Milo rolls his eyes and eats his s’mores.

Mollie: So, are you coming back to school next week?

Milo: Yeah, just in time to finish things up and finally graduate middle school.

Mollie: I can’t wait to leave that fucking school…

Milo: Why? Most of the people are just going to Waverly High with us.

Mollie: Yeah, but we’ll be high schoolers! We’ll be all grown up! Later curfews, older guys to date–

Milo shakes his head and laughs.

Mollie: And older girls for you to date as well!

Milo: I definitely don’t want to date anyone anytime soon…

Mollie: *teases* You say that now, but wait until you see how high school girls are!

Milo rolls his eyes and continues to make s’mores. His phone vibrates on his lap, to which he quickly answers the text. Mollie watches Milo smiling towards his phone.

Mollie: Who the hell is making you smile like that?

Milo quickly shakes his head and stops smiling; he locks his phone and puts it in his pocket.

Milo: Nobody, just saw something funny on TikTok…

Mollie: Right… because you know better than to smile at anything that plastic bitch has to say…

Milo: *annoyed* Why are you still so mean towards Sophie?

Mollie: Oh wow, you’re addressing her by name?

Milo: Yeah, like any normal person?

Mollie rolls her eyes, which makes Milo irritated.

Milo: You know, you’re so excited to get out of Beverly, but you’re still acting as childish and stupid like how you’ve been in Beverly.

Mollie: … What did you say about me?

Milo: Maybe it’s time to forget about all that dumb shit with Laurie and all of them and just move on from them. It makes you the bigger person anyway.

Mollie laughs, teasing Milo.

Mollie: You gotta stop thinking like the world is all good and that it’s nothing but cookies and rainbows and all that shit.

Milo: I don’t. I believe in actually getting to know a person before ultimately judging them. You know she’s not even friends with Laurie and the rest of them anymore?

Mollie: And I care because…?

Milo gets up from his seat.

Milo: Sophie is my friend whether you like it or not.

Mollie: You can’t be serious. Are you seriously still friends with that bitch?

Milo: The only bitch I know is you, Mollie! Sophie has nothing against you; she doens’t even care about you! So why do you care about her and I being friends?

Mollie gets up from her seat now; furious.

Mollie: So if I just became friends with someone that makes your life a living hell, you wouldn’t feel a type of way?

Milo: *yells* Sophie isn’t the one who did that! It was Laurie! You know, maybe if you actually gave people a chance and didn’t judge them before getting to know them, you would know that Sophie is a cool girl.

Mollie begins to walk back inside the house, Milo calls out for her.

Milo: Mol?

Mollie: *turns around* Leave me alone, Milo. Clearly, we aren’t friends anymore, and that you think that I’m just this big bitch that doesn’t have her reasons on why she hates the plastics.

Milo: But Sophie–

Mollie: But Sophie nothing! She was friends with a person that made my entire middle school life a living hell. She chose to be friends with someone that is awful to people she thinks are under her. She chose to be friends with a girl that no matter what chose to belittle others and humiliate them for fun. Me? I do that shit to people like her, who deserve to have a taste of her own fucking medicine! Sophie may not have done or said anything, but she chose to be friends with a monster like Laurie.

Mollie walks into the house. Milo slowly walks back to the house, feeling pretty guilty and confused about everything that was just spoken about.

Black Sheep in Society.

Black Sheep’s Secret Life: A Scene.

MU campus at night | Pittsburg state university, Pittsburg state, Pittsburg

It’s the evening hours on campus. Micah’s last class of the day has officially ended, and he walks out of his class. Walking in the direction towards the front of the campus, he looks towards the building that the bookstore is located in. He votes against it and continues to walk towards the front.

Along the walk, he spots Rosie across the other walkway, walking in the same direction. Without thinking twice, he runs up to Rosie, instantly standing by her side. She looks to see who it is now walking beside her and rolls her eyes when she sees who it is.

Micah: Heyyyyy, Rosie.

Rosie: Hi.

Micah looks around the campus.

Micah: Clocking out for the day?

Rosie: Yep.

Micah: Cool, cool… it’s a nice night to start off the weekend, huh?

Rosie: What do you want, Micah?

Micah: Nothing, I’m just walking to the front of the campus, just like you…

Rosie: You don’t get a limo from your supermodel girlfriend to come to get you from class?

Micah mimics a laugh; it comes out sarcastically.

Micah: She’s not a supermodel, she’s an aspiring actress. But I wouldn’t want that attention to be on me, y’know? You should know, right?

Rosie confusingly looks at Micah; her eyebrows scrunched together.

Rosie: No?

Micah: Ah… alright, sorry about that. *sighs* So, you got any plans for the weekend? Going to any parties, or events…?

Rosie stops in her track and faces Micah, highly annoyed.

Rosie: What are you trying to say?

Micah: I’m just saying, we both know you were at the Placy’s Gala last weekend. You are only invited if you know someone who is a celebrity or has a high profile…

Rosie: Maybe before you get into anyone’s business, you should really know where you get your facts from.

Rosie starts walking again, leaving Micah standing there. Micah runs towards Rosie to catch up with her and stops her from moving anymore.

Micah: You see, you would’ve been right about that, but I remember bumping into a girl at the gala that looked exactly like you. Maybe I was just daydreaming, because, like, who would you know that has such a presence in the public? And also, you always talk about my girlfriend like she’s the most snobby person in the world because she’s an up-and-coming actress…

Rosie: Get out of my way.

Micah: I can admit that I am with her. SHe’s my girlfriend regardless of how famous she can be, and I can’t shit on her lifestyle because dating her means I signed up for the chaos that comes with her life. But for you to constantly shit on that lifestyle while being a part of that lifestyle says a lot about you.

Rosie doesn’t say anything at first until she gathers her thoughts.

Rosie: I don’t know what you’re talking about, Micah.

Micah: How does someone like you know a guy like Prescott Jones?

Rosie: I don’t.

Micah: One of your coworkers thought I was Prescott when I came into the store earlier.

Rosie: They don’t know what they’re talking about.

Micah: Roe–

Rosie: Don’t call me that.

Micah: Rosie, all I’m saying is that if anyone knows how to be in the limelight with a celebrity, it’s you. Maybe that’s why you give me so much shit about Kalia and me. Is there trouble in paradise? Huh? I haven’t heard anything about Prescott Jones having a girlfriend in the magazines lately…

Rosie punches Micah back; he unexpectedly falls to the ground.

Rosie: Leave me the fuck alone.

Micah looks at Rosie and then all of a sudden hears his friends’ voices. Rosie keeps walking and Micah quickly gets up from the ground, He doesn’t bother going after Rosie this time, but he’s mad at how Rosie handled the conversation. His friends, Dani and Tanner, go to Micah to help him out.

Dani: What the fuck was her problem?

Micah: Nothing. She’s a nobody.

The "Something" Series

Something Pent Up in Me: A Scene.

living room night scene | 3D CAD Model Library | GrabCAD

The front door to an apartment opens. The inside is dark; no lights are on. Two shadows enter the apartment; one of them are holding the other and helping them enter the apartment.

Jamie is holding Grace up, who is clearly had way too many drinks tonight. Her hair is messy, and her eyes hang low. Jamie guides her to the sofa; she slowly slumps over to the armrest of the sofa.

Jamie: Grace? Hey Grace, can you hear me?

Grace: I’m drunk, not deaf.

Jamie smirks to himself; Grace is going to be Grace regardless of what state she’s in. He goes into his room and comes back out with some clothes. He walks towards Grace and hands her the clothing.

Jamie: I figured you wanted to be in something more comfortable…

Grace takes the clothes and begins to undress on the sofa. Jamie’s face turns red and he quickly looks away.

Jamie: You know, I didn’t imagine this is how us meeting again would be like.

Grace doesn’t say anything, she continues to put the clothes on. Jamie only turns back around when he doesn’t hear any more movement.

When he turns around, he sees just how sullen Grace looks. She’s staring into space, but clearly has a lot on her mind. He sits in the seat across from her, wondering what is going on with the girl he let get away.

Jamie: Grace?

She turns her head to look at him; sad.

Jamie: Why were you at the bar by yourself tonight?

Grace: *sighs* Ari couldn’t make it. She had plans with Dean.

Jamie nods his head and doesn’t say anything else until Grace does.

Grace: Max met someone. He’s pretty serious about her. He’ll probably end up marrying her…

Jamie doesn’t know how to respond. He simply sits there and lets Grace talk.

Grace: It’s funny, to see someone you were suppose to marry find another person to do that with, just makes you wonder if you were the problem…

Grace laughs at herself; pitiful.

Grace: I’m always the problem…

She finally turns her head towards Jamie, who is simply looking at her.

Grace: Why am I here?

Jamie: Uhm–

Jamie doesn’t know how to answer Grace because quite frank, he doesn’t know why he brought her back to his place.

Jamie: Shawn and Kevin saw you at the bar. They needed help.

Grace: Sorry for making myself your problem. *chuckles* I mean, when wasn’t I a problem of yours?

Jamie: *stern* Ya…

Grace: You know it’s true. You knew as soon as you saw me back the cafe that I was trouble. Like, how the fuck was I a lawyer, helping other people with their lives, when I couldn’t even help myself?

Grace stares into nothingness, she just keeps talking.

Grace: And then there’s you. Heh. You came here for work, probably didn’t think that you’d fall into the hands of someone like me. Like, you shouldn’t have to take care or even care about me… we broke up.

Jamie: Grace…

Grace: We broke up and yet here you are, taking care of me like you have to. You shouldn’t be taking care of me… not after everything I did to you.

Jamie: *confused* You didn’t do anything to me.

Grace’s eyes begin to water; her body and face still haven’t moved.

Jamie: Grace?

Grace: I don’t deserve your kindness. Not after what I did.

Jamie: It’s… it’s okay. It’s in the past.

Grace shakes her head.

Grace: But it’s not. It haunts me every single day. The what-if’s. What if I said something? What if I was honest about what was happening? What if I fought harder instead of running away?

Jamie: Don’t beat yourself over that. *reality hits* We wouldn’t have stand a chance being in a long distance relationship.

Grace begins to cry; Jamie tries to comfort her by politely rubbing her leg for reassurance and support.

Grace: I think about Willow and how different my life would’ve been if… if I didn’t have her. I thought I was making the right decision this time, but–

Jamie is now confused; he completely lost what Grace was saying.

Grace: I’m so sorry, Jamie.

Jamie: I don’t understand. What are you sorry for?

Grace wipes her eyes and sniffles.

Grace: For everything. For getting you involved with me. For breaking your heart…

Grace finally looks at Jamie in the eyes; it pains him to see her this upset.

Jamie: Maybe you should get some rest, Grace-

Grace: I can’t. I can’t, just-

Grace takes in a deep breath to control her crying. Jamie just watches on.

Grace: If I don’t let this out, it will just keep eating me up inside, and…

Grace is even more distraught than she was before. Jamie isn’t understanding where this is coming from. A sudden wave of calmness hits Grace.

Grace: *sighs, then pauses* I was pregnant when you were back in Korea. I didn’t know what to do and just ran away.

Jamie is shocked. His eyebrows slowly scrunch in concern, needing Grace to explain more.

Jamie: What happened?

Grace: I couldn’t do it again. I couldn’t just…

Grace can’t get the words out of her mouth, she just keeps apologizing to Jamie.

Jamie: What did you do?

Grace: I’m so sorry, Jamie. I’m–

Grace’s words become inaudible. Jamie’s face immediately turns white. Nothing else is said; Grace just continues to cry.

Later in the night, Grace passes out on the sofa and falls into a deep slumber. Jamie, on the other hand, still sits at the seat cross from Grace. He gives her one final look before he slowly gets up.

The bathroom door quickly opens and Jamie kneels to the ground to vomit. He sits by the toilet; leaning his head on the seat. He’s exhausted, and all he wants is some sleep. He gets up from the floor and looks at himself in the mirror. He doesn’t know how to feel. He turns away from the mirror and exits the bathroom.

He walks across the living room and looks at Grace one last time before he enters his bedroom for the night.

Milo: What brings you to the treehouse at this hour?

Sophie: I wanted to see if you were doing alright.

Sophie reaches for Milo’s eye patch and gently touches it. Milo’s face turns red.

Sophie: How’s your eye doing?

Milo: It’s doing okay… thanks for checking in on me.

Sophie: I still feel terrible that you got ino the middle of my mess.

Milo: *laughs* I’d take being in the middle of your mess beofre getting in the middle of anyone else’s, that’s for sure.

Sophie smiles and relaxes her body. She looks around the treehouse.

Sophie: Did the principal give you a hard time?

Milo: *sigh* She was saying that i need to stay outta trouble for the rest of the year if I want to graduate…

Sophie: She threatened you?!

Milo: I wouldn’t say threatened… she just warned me. But it’s fine, technically I’m grounded until then.

Sophie: And me being here is not helping, is it?

Milo looks at Sophie and giggles; the air gets less tense. Sophie looks at the notebook in Milo’s hand.

Sophie: Writing more music?

Milo: *looks down* Uhm, something like that.

Milo closes the notebook and tosses it to the side. He takes a deep breath.

Milo: I appreciate you coming to see me, but how did you know I was here?

Sophie: Oh I don’t know, I did this project with some guy that deemed this spot to be his favorite spot to hang out in the neighborhood.

Milo smiles and deadpans a laugh. Sophie laughs as well.

Milo: You’ve been the first person to actually come up here. No one else really knows about this place besides my dad and you.

Sophie: *surprised* Really? You mean you never hang out here with your friends?

Milo shakes his head. Sophie nods her head in understanding.

Milo: This really only has been a place for me, but I don’t know, I actually like you up here with me.

Sophie smiles.

Sophie: I like being up here with you too.

Nothing is said between them, but they look at each other. They get closer to one another, clearly overthinking about what’s next to come. Milo and Sophie’s faces are close to each other, and Milo slowly makes the move to kiss Sophie on the lips. She doesn’t protest and share an inncoent kiss on the lips. After sharing their kiss, Sophie looks at Milo whose face is as red as a tomato. Sophie giggles.

Sophie: Are you okay?

Milo: *flustered* Uhm, yeah, I’m fine, I–

Sophie now makes the move to kiss Milo. After sharing another kiss, Milo looks at Sophie, speechless.

Milo: I, uhm…

Sophie: *nervous* Sorry, I didn’t want you to… like, overthink it.

Milo continues to look at Sophie.

Sophie: I should, uhm, get going before it gets too dark…

Milo grabs Sophie’s arm; she turns her head to face him.

Milo: Sophie, I…

Sophie doesn’t look away from Milo; she waits to see what Milo has to say.

Milo: I… like you.

Sophie doesn’t say anything right away. She gathers thoughts before saying anything to Milo.

Sophie: I… like you too, Milo.

Milo smiles and his face turns red again. Sophie giggles and grabs Milo’s cheeks.

Sophie: *teases* Milo, your cheeks are a rosy reddddd…

Milo: *shakes his face away* Scout!

Sophie laughs and kisses Milo on one of his cheeks.

Sophie: I’ll see you in school, Milo.

Milo: You too, Scout.

Sophie smiles and begins to climb down the treehouse. Once Sophie leaves, Milo takes out the notebook he was writing in and opens the page he was at. The page reads a poem entitled “Sophie”.

Black Sheep in Society.

Black Sheep’s Consequences: A Scene.

Campus Center | Student Involvement | CSI CUNY Website

Micah sits at a table in the student center. His legs are up on one of the chairs at the table, his bookbag on the table. He softly strums the strings on his guitar. He looks around and notices a girl walking into the building and towards the bookstore. It’s Rosie, alone, walking into the bookstore quickly. He keeps looking until his friends, Dani and Tanner, come and take over the seats that Micah occupied.

Dani: I’m surprised you even come to campus today.

Micah: Well, life has to move forward–

Dani: Even if you’re labeled as a bad boyfriend in the tabloids?

Micah rolls his eyes at Dani.

Micah: Jesus, Dani, wanna tell the entire building?

Dani: I’m just saying, you already know Kalia is going to bust your balls about it.

Micah: Don’t remind me.

Tanner: Has she called you yet?

Micah: Surprisingly no…

Dani: Hmm, maybe she finally came to her senses and decided to take the stick out of her ass about the tabloids…

Micah: *annoyed* Listen, Dani, I’m really not in the mood for this today…

Tanner: Alright, alright; let’s calm down now. *to Micah* listen bro, I just hope that Kalia doesn’t blame you for this. Clearly that’s not the case.

Micah doesn’t say anything back, he just grabs his bookbag and puts it on.

Tanner: Where you going?

Micah: My class starts in 20 minutes, I just wanna get there early.

Micah packs up his guitar and lifts the bag up and leaves. Before he exits the student center, he looks towards the bookstore. He walks into the bookstore, not really knowing why he is in the first place.

He walks in and looks towards the counter; to his surprise, it wasn’t Rosie working at the register today. He goes and grabs a drink before walking to the counter. He reads the name on the girl’s lanyard; Natalie.

Natalie: Anything else?

Micah: Nope.

Natalie scans the drink and tells Micah the price. Micah takes out his wallet and paids for the drink.

Micah: Is Rosie working today?

Natalie: *looks up* Rosie?

Micah nods her head; he tries to keep his voice low when asking.

Natalie: Wait, you’re Prescott?

Micah: *confused* What?

Someone from the back of the store calls out for Natalie, in which Micah grabs his drink and leaves the store abruptly.

Micah walks down a street in Downtown, arriving to one of the tall apartment buildings. He walks into it , quickly walking towards the stairs. He runs up the stairs until he reaches the floor he needs to be on. He then walks towards an apartment door and knocks o it. Shortly after, a woman opens the door. It’s Kennedy, Kalia’s very artistic and biological mother.

Kennedy: Hi! Come on in, she’s in her room.

Micah: Thank you Miss Larsen–

Kennedy: Boy I already told you to call me Kennedy.

Micah: *nervous* Sorry.

Kennedy yells out for Kalia, who then walks out of her room with a wig and sunglasses on. Micah is visibly confused.

Micah: Kal?

Kalia: You have some nerve showing up here, Micah.

Micah: What?

Kennedy: *intervenes* Well, I have an opening to attend you in the city, I should be back in the morning, dear!

Kennedy leaves the apartment; it’s now only Micah and Kalia in the house.

Micah: I figured I’d come over to check on you, see if you were doing alright, but I can clearly see you read the dumbass tabliods this morning.

Kalia: Micah! This isn’t a joke! Just you being here after what happened at the gala is going to attract so much attention!

Micah: Do you think I give a shiut about what other people think about me? We are a couple, Kal; just like any other 20-somehing-year-olds.

Kalia: But none of them have paparazzi following their every move!

Micah sits on the sofa and holds his head with his hands.

Kalia: Why did you get drunk in front of my father?

Micah: Kal, I already apologized to you for that. I was nervous and I drink when I do.

Kalia: You’re not even legal yet, Micah! You know how that looked like to my dad? That you just illegally drink without any consequences!

Micah: I said I was sorry, okay?! What more do you want from me?

Kalia takes in a deep breath and takes off the wig and sunglasses. She sits next to Micah on the sofa.

Kalia: I’m sorry, Micah. I don’t mean to be harsh on you and I’m not trying to change you. I love you for you Micah, and I don’t want you think that I care about the tabloids more than our relationship.

She kisses Micah gently on the lips. He looks at her; she smiles at him.

Kalia: No matter what, I’m always by your side.

She kisses Micah even harder this time, and they begin to make out on the sofa. Kalia begins to remove Micah’s sweater, and attempts to unbutton his pants. He stops when he feels her unbuttoning them.

Micah: Let’s take this to your room.

Kalia: *nervously* My bedroom faces the street… and there might be…

Micah gets up from the sofa and begins to button his pants up, then he puts his sweater on.

Kalia: Where are you going?

Micah: Home. Coming here was a bad idea.

Kalia: What’s wrong? Why are you leaving?

Micah doesn’t say anything back, he just gathers his things, wich makes Kalia upset.

Kalia: Micah?!

Micah turns around and looks at Kalia, who is visibly upset. He feels bad for her.

Kalia: Please don’t go. I want you to stay; keep me company. I just want to spend time with my boyfriend like a normal girl.

She begins to cry, in which Micah drops his bag and walks over to Kalia, giving her a hug.

Micah: I’ll stay with you.

The "Something" Series

Needing Your Help With Something: A Scene.

Fitzrovia - Cocktail Bar - Simmons Bar

Two men walk inside of a bar in NYC; the midtown area. They are accompanied by two women around their age. They look around and see the scene; many young people starting off their weekends in the bar, just like them. The men escort the women to a table.

Shawn appears to be confident while Kevin looks more nervous than anything.

Shawn: It was nice to get out of the office to unwind for the weekend, right Kevin?

Kevin: Uhm, yeah.

Shawn awkwardly smiles and looks at the two women.

Shawn: So, how do you ladies like America so far?

Sooyoung: It’s different; I definitely didn’t think America was like… this.

Yujin: Yeah, it’s not like how the movies saw it.

Shawn: Is it better than the movies though?

The women don’t answer right away. Shawn clears his throat and attempts to change the subject. Kevin is clearly not feeling this night just as much as the women aren’t as well.

Shawn: If you excuse me and Kevin, we are going to go get some drinks.

The men get up from their chairs and head over to the bar. They stand at the counter as they order their drinks; Shawn leans against the counter and looks at Kevin.

Shawn: You’re okay, Kev?

Kevin: I’m fine, just… never went out with other coworkers like this before.

Shawn: You mean you never been out with female coworkers before.

Kevin: I don’t try to mix business and my personal life together.

Shawn: C’mon, you’ll be fine! We’re just at a bar, after work, getting to know our coworkers and showing them around the city for their first time!

Kevin: *deadpans* You told me last week you wanted to *air quotes* get to know Sooyoung better.

Shawn: *giddy* She’s really cute, huh?

Kevin rolls his eyes as the drinks come out to the two men. They pick them up and head back to the table where the women are seated.

Shawn: Here you go, I hope you guys enjoy!

The women smile as the men give the girls their drinks. Kevin awkwardly hands over Yujin’s drink without saying a word. SHe looks up and immediately takes her compact mirror from her purse.

Yujin taps Sooyoung on the shoulder as she drinks.

Yujin: Come with me to the ladies room, unnie.

The women excuse themselves from the table. Shawn sips on his drink while Kevin looks at him.

Kevin: What if they leave? These drinks weren’t cheap.

Shawn: *dumbfound* Whoever marries you in the future is going to have to understand this worry you carry all the time.

Kevin: It’s not being worried, it’s being realistic.

Shawn rolls his eyes and looks at the people around the venue. He places his drink back onto the table when he looks towards the bar area.

Shawn: See Kevin, you have to just be a little free and fun! Like that person at the bar! They probably don’t have a care in the world; they just came here to have a good time and a good time it looks like they are having!

Kevin turns his head towards the bar area and looks at what Shawn’s looking at. He intently watches the people at the bar surround this one person who’s downing shots with the bartender. Kevin squints harder to see the person who’s doing the shots.

Kevin: Hyung…

Shawn: *gulps a sip of his drink* Yeah?

Kevin: Doesn’t that look like…?

Kevin’s question trails off once the people begin to clear way of the person on the bar counter. He gets a better sight at who they are. Shawn turns his head back towards the bar and widens his eyes.

Shawn: That can’t be.

Kevin: Grace?!

A girl with messy, curly hair is seen drinking shots on the counter, clearly intoxicated and not knowing what’s going on around her. A bunch of people watch her chug down the hard liquor, cheering her on.

The two men watch her, terrified, not knowing what to do.

Shawn: Aigoo, what the hell do we do?!

Kevin: *turns to face Shawn* We need to get her!

Shawn: What about Sooyoung and Yujin?!

Kevin: Hyung, Jamie will kill us before we ever get to see them again if we don’t get her out of here!

The two men get up from their table and race towards the bar. They slither their way through the crowd of people, to finally get access to Grace. Grace looks at him and loudly greets him.

Grace: Shawn! Kevin! Hiiiii guys! What are you guys doing here?

Kevin: Are you okay?

Grace: I’m great! Turn up, boys! it’s thirsty Thursday! *to the bartender* get my friends some shots too, handsome!

The crowd of people are now watching the two men around Grace. Shawn and Kevin nervously look at each other.

Kevin: Grace, come on, let’s get out of here.

Kevin and Shawn try to get Grace off of the counter, to with the lookgoers protest. Shawn looks at the crowd in disgust.

Shawn: Party is over!

The men take Grace away from the crowd, Grace swaying and slurring her words as they walk.

Grace: Don’t be party poopers, guys!

They don’t answer her, but instead look at the two women they came here with come out of the bathroom and cross ways. The two women look visibly disguated that two men are carrying out a drunk women out of the bar, not knowing who she is.

Shawn: Wait, ladies!

The girls leave and Kevin pulls Shawn back towards him and Grace.

Kevin: Forget about them, we gotta get Grace out of here!

Grace: *excited* Ooooo, where are we going?

The men successfully take Grace out of the bar, trying to figure out what to do next. Grace starts laughing and then immediately hunches over to puke. The guys are speechless. Kevin takes out his phone and dails a number.

Shawn: Who are you calling?

Kevin doesn’t answer back, he just looks at Shawn. Shawn raises his eyebrows, understanding what’s happening.

Thirty minutes later, Grace is hurled up in a ball on a bus stop bench. Shawn and Kevin try to keep her from falling to the ground. A car comes around the corner and stops in front of the bus top. A man quickly jumps out of the drivers seat, and walks towards the three people.

Jamie’s hair is unkempt, his glasses are foggy from the cold, and he only has a hoodie on, which is not enough to keep him warm at this time of night in the winter. Jamie looks anxious, looking at his friends and Grace just sitting there.

Jamie: What the hell happened?!

Shawn: Hyung, I swear we didn’t come here with her, we were actually on dates with–

Kevin: *to Shawn* Hyung! *looks towards Jamie* We found her here, practically chugging bottles at the bar.

Jamie doesn’t say anything, he just kneels down and looks at a slumped over Grace.

Jamie: Grace?

Grace attempts to lift her head up, but doesn’t succeed. Jamie stads back up and looks at the men.

Jamie: Did you guys drink tonight?

Shawn: Barely.

Kevin rolls his eyes at Shawn’s response.

Kevin: Yes.

Jamie takes a deep sigh and rubs his hands through his hair in frustration.

Jamie: I will take you guys back to your places; I’ll take Grace back to my place and sober her up a bit.

The men agree and attempt to get Grace in Jamie’s car. Once they all get into the car, they drive off.
